Techniques

The techniques I have used in my photographs are Leading lines, Rules of 3, Low vantage and High contrast.

Leading lines were used to draw the viewers eye to create a point of interest within the photo.

Rules of 3 were used to dissect my photograph into 3 horizontally and vertically sections to line the interesting points up.

Low vantage was used to achieve the low vantage point, I got beneath the building to take a photo at angle to create an interest and sometimes I caught leading lines within the photo.

High contrast was used to focus on the bright or dark areas to turn my photo into black and white.

Critical Links

I looked up to Hervé and Binet because of their famous use of their dramatic black and white photographs and I was interested about taking photos and then turning them black and white by using curves and gradient overlay.

I looked up to David Carson because of the way he uses his grungy typography images and the text that he had overlaid on his image makes his work more interesting.

Most Succesful Designs

My David Carson designs were the most successful, my use of his grunginess and typography was very well used, I also deliberately used a leading line and overlaid text onto the cropped picture to make it more of a point of interest. On the first image it shows the deliberate use of leading lines and on the second it shows the use of multiple overlaying text onto a cropped image.
